A very beautiful top of the morning my crafty friends Preeti here. Today I have a very glittery card for you show casing the beautiful Bold Rose Stencil from Rubbernecker. Couple of months ago I watched a video by Jennifer McGuire on creating beautiful backgrounds and elements using stencils and glitter. Here is a link to her video. I loved the technique a lot, but I do not have as many colors of glitter as she has, so I had to come up with a way to create colored glitter. I decided to color my glitter using markers.
Here is a little story- My husband is really not a romantic type, but when I was diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer and had to have a hysterectomy, I was a bit sad and devastated. The road to recovery after my surgery was going to be a real long one and it was. The day my husband brought me home from the hospital, and carried me up the stairs and lay me down on our bed I was totally surprised to see the bed covered with red and pink roses and he had timed the song Bed Of Roses by Bon Jovi on our home Sono's system pretty well. My recovery was long, but I was very much comfort to know how blessed I am to have a man like him in my life. So when I first laid my eyes on this stencil that same song rang in my ears and that was my inspiration for this card. And I knew I wanted to color the images in the stencil using markers creating them to look like bed of roses.
Moving on to the card:
Start by adding double sided adhesive on to a white 41/4x51/2 card stock. I used Couture Creations Die Cut And Bond Double Sided Tape.
Peal the top layer of the tape and place the Bold Rose stencil over it, don't worry the stencil will come off easily. Now add a prisma colored glitter over the stencil, I used Unicorn dust glitter from SimonSaysStamp. Keep in mind it is important to use a very fine glitter for this technique.
Next peal of the stencil and add gold glitter to cove the rest of the surface. I used Ranger Disress Glitter Dust in Vintage platinum.
Color the flowers using markers. I did not use copic markers, because I did not ant to spoil the tip of my markers, instead I used Arteza Markers. I also tried Memneto Dual Brush and cheap Crayola markers and they all worked beautifully.
Few things to keep in mind though, the color bleeds a bit on the glitter so make sure you are not scrubbing a lot of ink on the surface. Also the surface stays wet for a while and that's the reason why its easy toblend even using Crayola markers. But because it is wet you may smudge it easily, so let it dry before you touch it.
After all the images were colored I die cut the panel using a Nested Rectangle die and adhered it using foam adhesive on a side folding 5x7 white note card.
Stamp and emboss the sentiment on vellum with gold embossing powder. Cut it in thin strip and adhere it over the glitter panel using liquid adhesive. Add a fe pink gem stones and you are done.
