Recessed frame Flower Bouquet

Updated: Feb 12, 2020

Hello friends,

Winter always seems to be so long and never ending, my eyes are starting to yearn to see some fresh green saplings on the tree and beautiful flower blooms everywhere. I get so exhilarated at the first sight of the bloom, that my body automatically goes into a happy dance mode. Todays card is a reminder that no matter how far the winter seems, you can always create spring and summer on you cards. This stamp set called the Flower bouquet is one such stamp set, which you can turn into a garden of your own.

For my card today I decided to use my zig color pens as the coloring medium and created a recessed frame in the card.

  • Start by stamping the Flower bouquet stamps twice to create an open wreath. I used versa fine onyx black ink for stamping as this is a good ink if you are planning to water color your image. I stamped the image on bristol smooth card stock.

  • Color the image using zig colors or any other water color medium you may have in your stash. i also added a light yellow glow around the florwer bouquet . This helped the bouquet to stand out.

  • Stamp the sentiment in the center of the open wreath with a black ink. I used a sentiment from the Free Hand Border Phrase set.

  • Die cut the panel using the largest of the Nested Rectangle X stitch die. Also did cut another smaller rectangle in the center using the Nested Rectangle die. This second rectangle will die cut the colored image as well.

  • On a side folding note card first adhere the outer rectangle frame using foam tape. Next adhere the smaller rectangle inside the larger one using liquid adhesive. This gives the inner panel a recessed look.

  • Add some gem stone to finish the card.

I hope this card makes you look forward to spring. Don't forget to visit the Rubbernecker instagram page to see more amazing and beautiful cards made by some very talented ladies. Also don't forget to show your beautiful work on the Rubbernecker Facebook Fan page.
