Hi Friends,
I am enjoying taking classes on Altenew Academy and this card is for the Easy Die Cutting class taught by one of my favorite card designer none other than Yana Smakula. I have been an admirer of her style for a very long time now and taking this class taught by her was so much fun. I was inspire by her negative die cutting lesson, which I thought had an amazing look on cards. My card has too many steps, so today I will write the making of the cards in a step by step process. I also made this card 5x7 to give the technique maximum impact.
Cut two identical measure card stock one in white and the other in an aqua shade my measurements were 43/4x63/4. I used the Neenah Solar white 8olbs card stock and the aqua cardstock is from the stash and I don't remember where I got it from.
Stamp the two solid leaf images from the Leaf Canopy set on the white panel covering up the entire surface to create a leaf background. I used the Aqualicious crisp dye ink for the stamping.
Take the second aqua panel and die cut the two leaf dies from the coordinating die set multiple times. After die cutting I used the ink cube of the Aqualicious dye ink and created some stripes for some texture and to match the color of the leaf on the white panel. I also splattered some gold paint for added texture.
Die cut a few white leaves from another card stock and stamp the out line of the leaf images using gold ink, I used the Delicata gold ink from Tsukineko
Adhere the aqua die cut panel over the white floral background panel using foam adhesive.
Glue the gold out lined leaves on to the aqua die cut panel directly with some liquid glue making sure to offset it from the negative die cuts.
Stamp the sentiment congratulation with the gold ink and the additional sentiment using black ink on a white card stock and cut it into a label and adhere over the aqua panel using foam tape. The sentiment is also from the leaf canopy set. (I made this card is for a friends wedding)
To add some more bling as if there wasn't enough already, I added aqua gems from Pretty Pink Posh
Adhere the entire panel onto a gold side folding notecards. I adhered a white cardstock inside the card for writing my message.
The card look very busy, but IRL it looks stunning, I tried my best to photograph it to show its beauty but wasn't too successful I guess. Tell me what you think? Thanks foe stopping and hope you will give the the Easy Die Cutting class a go. See you next time, have fun crafting and don't forget to share some hand made love.
Everything you make is gorgeous, Preeti! I am sure this is too even more so in real life than it does look in photos. Believe me it looks amazing in photos. I am a massive fan of Yana's, boy she can really teach! I am glad you enjoyed the class and created such a fantastic card!
Thank you for sharing this brilliant with us and entering this to the AECP assignment gallery.
