Hero Arts Friendship Blooms/Distress Oxide Watercolor

Updated: Sep 5, 2019

Hello friends, I am using the new celebration stamp set by Hero Arts, Friendship Blooms designed by Gina K Designs for their 45th Anniversary. This set is a beautiful large stamp that can pretty much cover the entire standard A2 size card, that's the reason i decided to make it a 5x7 card. I have never used Distress Oxide Inks to watercolor, and I really wanted to give it a go. I never thought I would love it so much and I definitely plan to do more cards in the future using this medium.

I white heat embossed the floral images twice on SSS Fog Card. I then water colored the floral image using distress oxide ink. Keep in mind that this carsick is not a watercolor papery not to overload the brush with too much water. A good tip is to take a smaller brush size, I used number 2 brush. Also every time you dip the brush in water, blot out as much water you can on a rag tissue, the brush has to me just enough moist to move the color. I notice that distress oxide inks did not need much water for blending

DISTRESS OXIDE INKS USED:

Festive Berries, Worn Lipstick, Tattered Rose, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, Peacock Feathers

After the images were all colored I fussycut out three flowers from one of the cad panels and a rounded rectangle from the second panel. The second panel was cut at 43/4x63/4 inches which is also the top layer of the card. I painter the edged of the image using peacock feathers oxide ink to give blue haze around the image. After I adhered the cut panel directly to a white note card. I popped up the rectangle die cut using foam adhesive. I also popped up the fussy cut flowers on the rectangle die cut to give it more dimension. Added some splatter with white gouache and some clear crystal from Pretty Pink Posh. I have video on my youtube channel on how I made this card.

If you have never given distress oxide a try, hope this card has inspired you to do so. Happy crafting and remember to be always thankful, it lightens your heart , widens your smile and you become a blessing to everyone around you!!!

Love you all
